Animalistic Pearlescence

February 4, 2010

When I want a wide band pearl bracelet, I usually use a pearl necklace to make the look I want.¬† So last week, I wanted to add a bit of animal print via a piece of jewelry, in addition to my daily dose of pearls ūüôā

So I layered a hand painted bangle from Africa, featuring the face of a lion and paw prints and a long pearl necklace that my grandma used to wear decades ago.  The result made for, in my opinion, a lovely statement armpiece.

This necklace creates so many layered looks!  This look can also be achieved with any other beaded necklace of longer or shorter length.

What I Wore

January 7, 2010

Sunday’s is one of my favorite days of the week.¬† I don’t have to wake up at 5:30, like I do for some workdays, it’s often a day of relaxation, and most importantly, Sunday is my day to go to church, to fellowship in praise and worship of my Lord and Savior!!¬† So, here is What I Wore on the first Sunday of the year (excuse the kind of hazy pics, its time for me ;to get a new camera, because my iPhone cam just doesn’t cut it anymore, lol):

Sources of Femininity:  Cardigan- Old Navy; Tee, Skirt, and Pumps- F21; Opaque Tights- Target;  Belt- Zara in France

As a Grad school student (I start in 12 days!!), looking fabulous on a budget is a must!  I am consistently working to provide clients with inexpensive options to loveliness, so I know it can be done.  I am also a big advocate for shopping in your closet;  I have had this skirt for 2.5 years (probabaly the item with the longest lifeline that i bought from F21, LOL), and it never fails to flatter me and look lovely!

I am really liking the royal blue/emarld green color combination right now!¬† The colors are both so rich and bold, yet compliment each other in anunexpected way.¬† My iPhone doesn’t have a flash, so I know you can’t see the shoe color too well, so I figured I would share a close up of the blue loveliness!

I love these platform blue faux suede pumps that I got for a super steal at F21!!!  They will be a constant in my winter wardrobe.

Sources of Femininty:  Pearl Necklace- Boutique in France; Brooch and Earrings- Eclectically Feminine; Watch- Christmas Gift; Bangle- F21

I kept my accessories to a minimum with this look, allowing the cardigan and pumps be centerstage, but subtle touches can add a little umph to any outfit.

Brooches are great way to add a little spice to an outfit.  I added a bit of animal print to my look via a brooch made by yours truly.  Brooches can be added to a necklace or bracelet, worn on a shirt or blouse, added to a scarf, or used as an accent on a handbag!  So the next time you are out shopping for accessories, pick up a brooch and use it to enhance yoru loveliness!!!

Best Statement Necklace of 2009

January 5, 2010

As the new year begins, we often reflect on the year before, the good, bad, and everything in between.  I prefer to think about the good of the year before!!!

At times, I can totally be a jeans and tee shirt kind of girl, and I love to dress it up with great accessories and lovely (often colored) shoe!  A statement necklace is the best way to dress up an outfit, so in my reflection of 2009, I wanted to share my opinion of the Best Statement Necklace of 2009:

As you may have figured out by now, I love pearls, so this necklace worn by Rihanna at the London premier of the movie “Inglorious Bastards” speaks volumes to my pearlescent (thanks for another lovely word Frances) desires!!¬† The pearls add a perfect hint of cream to Rihanna’s fabulous¬†black ensemble.¬†

To achieve this look, without the cost, I would suggest layering on pearls on top of pearls to get this dramatic look.  I figured I would try to pile on all of my pearl necklaces to attempt this dramatic look to my fullest ability. What do you think?

I am big on piling on jewelry to make a statement, so I love this look!!!  You will be seeing it soon in coming What I Wore post!

Pearl Deets in Ascending Order: Forever 21, Vintage (Grandma’s Collection-GC), Boutique in France, Vintage (GC), Vintage (GC).

My grandma had an extensive collection of jewelry that she shared with me a few years ago, so you will see it alot through out my post.¬† Mixing the old with the new is great way to ensure that your look and style is that of your own.¬† As the new year begins, I hope you lovelies will try to more incorporate statement necklaces into your daily wardrobe!¬† Even if you don’t have a statement necklace, pile on some necklaces to make a statement of your own!!!

What I Wore

December 31, 2009

In the new year, I plan to start doing post on what I wear, showing how I use accessories and color.¬† With this being New Year’s Eve, I figured I would start today, with a pic from something I wore to church a few Sunday’s ago!

Style Sources:  Cardigan- Express, Long-Sleeve Tee and Booties- F21, Sweater Tights- Target, Skirt- Isaac Mizrahi for Liz Claiborne

I love mixing colors, or being as one of my friends put it “unorthodox” in my color combinations.¬† Turquoise and purple (the color of my booties) is one of my favorite color combinations!¬† Dirndhl and full skirts, are my favorites because they flatter all body shapes, and give the illusion fo a smaller waste/hour-glass figure!

As you can see, I am wearing the new ring and the pearl and chain necklace.  I love vintage inspired earrings; the ones I am wearing are courtesy of Forever21!

As we embark on a new year, I pray that 2010 is full of happiness, peace, love, and fireceness for all!!!

New Piece!

December 31, 2009

Ok so I am still without a computer, but my mom got a new laptop from Santa (herself, lol) which I am using until I get my laptop fixed and/or get a netbook.  I am so happy to be back to getting this blog flowing!

While I was on my hiatus, I created a new item!

For a long time, I was not much of a ring wearer, because I have rather small fingers.  Buying rings in stores canbe a long time consuming process (my ring fingers are like a size 5!).  I made this ring using elastic string to ensure that I could fit it, and so far it has been a hit!!!  You can get yours for $12.00!

It feels good to be back, and I look forward to sharing more!!!

Eclectically yours,

Rocquelle

Hiatus

December 18, 2009

Bonjour Lovelies! I hope your holidays are off to an abfab (Absolutely Fabulous) start; thanks Frances for my new term!

I apologize for my little hiatus after getting this blog started. I’m having some technical difficulties (my laptop stopped working), but hopefully Santa will get me a netbook, lol.

Nonetheless, I am trying to figure out how to publish my post and not just create drafts on the WordPress Iphone app so that I can move forward from this hiatus.

Live, Love, Laugh, and Be Blessed!!!

Bijoux et Accessoire

November 24, 2009

Hey lovelies

I probabaly forgot to mention in my Intro that I love France.  There is so much great architecture, culture, and style in France.  French was my minor in college, but it has gotten really dusty over the last couple of years, so Babe and I said we would learn (or re-learn in my case) it together in 2010!  Anyways, French is not what this post is about lol; I wanted to share my product offerings, but got a bit side tracked.  Below, are the jewelry and accessories, currently available for your purchasing and viewing pleasure :-)!  See the Orders page for more information if you see something you like!
